G2 advanced to the grand final at the ECS Season 1 Finals after beating fnatic 2-0 (16-2 on Overpass and 16-13 on Dust2). fnatic were pitted against G2 in the first semi-final in London and the best-of-three series started out on Overpass with the Swedes on the CT-side. G2 secured the pistol round with Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom's triple kill and grabbed the anti-ecos without much trouble. After the French team won the first weapon round, they extended their lead to 8-0. A triple kill by and a 1vs3 clutch by Jesper "JW" Wecksell gave fnatic their first round but they couldn't initiate a streak. G2 led 13-2 at halftime.
ScreaM and Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro each got double kills to pick up the pistol round of the second half and G2 finished it off afterward, winning it 16-2. This scoreline was the worst map performance of this fnatic five man lineup, with their second worst being 16-5. Dust2 opened up with Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's back-to-back quad kills and their CT-sided team led 3-0 after winning another anti-eco. G2 got the first weapon round but fnatic replied and made it 8-1.
ScreaM's ace gifted his team their second round and more importantly, started a streak. G2 cut the deficit to three and trailed 6-9 at halftime. Although ScreaM & co. won the pistol round in the second half, they lost the following one and fnatic took control once again, extending their lead to 12-7. G2 managed to tie it at 12-12 as they won five rounds in a row and then took the lead with a successful retake. G2 made it 14-12 after winning a 5vs3 and went on to win the match 16-13, advancing to the grand final. ECS Season 1 FinalsBest of 3
